There are two ways to write a book.
The first takes seven years and ends in the unfinished manuscript that lives in a drawer.
The second takes twenty-eight days and ends in a book you can hold.
The difference is not talent. The difference is structure. Self-Publish Your First Book in 28 Days is built around the premise that most first books fail not because they were unwritten, but because they were unsequenced. Below is the structure we use, in summary. The book itself — and the companion Workbook — walks you through it day by day.
Week 1 — The Spine (Days 1–7).
The first week is not for writing. It is for deciding what kind of book you are writing. We spend seven days on five questions: what is this book about, who is reading it, what shape is it, what is the one promise you make on the cover, what does the table of contents look like before any of it is written.
The most painful sentence in publishing is I’ll figure that out later. Week 1 is the week we don’t.
Week 2 — The Draft (Days 8–14).
Two thousand words a day for seven days. No editing, no second-guessing, no chapter rearranging. You will hate it. The draft of any first book is supposed to be embarrassing — the embarrassment is how you know you’re writing.
We give you the daily prompts, the word counts, the deflection scripts for the inner critic. Your only job is to get the manuscript out of your head and onto the page.
Week 3 — The Edit (Days 15–21).
Now you read what you wrote. Once for structure (does the spine hold?), once for clarity (would a reader who is not you understand this?), once for voice (does this sound like a person?). You will cut a third of it. That is correct. The cut third is what makes the kept two-thirds publishable.

Week 4 — The Publish (Days 22–28).
The last seven days are operational. Cover design. Formatting. ISBN. Print-on-demand setup (we walk you through Lulu, IngramSpark, KDP — pick one, do it). Pricing. The launch list. The day-one promotion.
By Day 28 your book exists. It is on a shelf, or in a PDF, or both. It is small — your first book always is. But it is finished, and there is no more powerful thing in the writing life than a finished book on which to base a second.
The full guide is on the shelf now. The Workbook turns the framework into your actual book — every prompt, every checkpoint, every weekly review printed in a notebook designed to be dog-eared and filled.
